Members of the Salt Creek Book Club and teacher Mrs. Tonya Blubaugh have been enjoying some great reads since school started.
In September they read Gordon Korman's Schooled, a book about 13-year-old Cap, a boy who is sent to a traditional middle school after being homeschooled on a farm commune.
Our Book Club participants have also been preparing for Margaret Peterson Haddix's visit on November 9th. In October, they read Found, the first book in Mrs. Haddix's The Missing series. In this story, teenage adoptees Jonah and his friend Chip begin receiving ominous messages that they are among "the missing" and someone is coming to find them. Frightened but curious, the boys begin a search for their true identies.
Interested students may sign up for this club during Homeroom. It meets Mondays and Thursdays after school from 2:15-3:15. Meetings include a snack, as well as crafts, challenges, games, or other book-related activities. Students receive their own copies of the selected books, which are theirs to keep.
